Welcome to DoorProfit API. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our application programming interface (API) and related services. By accessing or using the DoorProfit API, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for an API key or using the DoorProfit API, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the API.

2. API Access and Usage

Subject to these Terms, DoorProfit grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the API for your internal business purposes.

• You must register for an API key to access the API
• Your API key is personal and should not be shared with third parties
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your API key
• You agree to comply with all applicable rate limits and usage quotas

3. Permitted Use

You may use the DoorProfit API to:

• Integrate crime data, registered offender information, and location intelligence into your applications
• Build products and services that leverage our data
• Analyze and display data for legitimate business purposes

4. Prohibited Use

You may NOT use the DoorProfit API to:

• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense API access or raw data
• Create a competing product or service
• Harass, stalk, or harm any individual
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Circumvent rate limits or access controls
• Attempt to reverse engineer the API
• Use data for discriminatory purposes in housing, employment, or lending

5. Registered Offender Registry Data

IMPORTANT NOTICE — NOT A CONSUMER REPORT. THE REGISTERED OFFENDER DATA AVAILABLE THROUGH THIS API IS NOT A "CONSUMER REPORT" AS DEFINED BY THE FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT ("FCRA"), 15 U.S.C. § 1681 ET SEQ. YOU MAY NOT USE THIS DATA, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, AS A FACTOR IN DETERMINING ELIGIBILITY FOR CREDIT, INSURANCE, EMPLOYMENT, HOUSING, OR FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE AUTHORIZED UNDER THE FCRA.

Data Source and Accuracy. Registered offender data provided through this API is sourced from publicly available government registries, including the National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) and individual state registries. We are not the original source of this data, and we do not independently verify its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Registry data may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. You should always verify information directly with official state registry sources before relying on it.

Prohibited Uses of Offender Data. You agree that you will NOT use the registered offender data available through this API to:

• Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate any individual listed in the data
• Make decisions regarding employment, tenant screening, insurance, credit, or any other purpose governed by the FCRA
• Commercially redistribute or resell the raw data without authorization
• Commit any illegal act or violate any applicable federal, state, or local law

Any misuse of registered offender data may violate federal and state law and may result in criminal prosecution. Many states have laws specifically prohibiting the use of sex offender registry information to harass or intimidate registered individuals.

Limitation of Liability for Registry Data. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or currency of any registered offender data. The data is provided "as is" and "as available." We shall not be liable for any actions you or your end users take based on this data, including but not limited to decisions about property purchases, residential safety, or personal security. You assume all risk associated with your use of the registered offender data.

6. Data Accuracy and General Disclaimer

While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, DoorProfit makes no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the data provided through the API. The data is provided "as is" and "as available."

You acknowledge that crime data and registered offender registry information may contain errors, omissions, or may not be current. You should not rely solely on this data for making critical decisions.

7. Rate Limits and Quotas

API access is subject to rate limits and usage quotas based on your subscription plan. Exceeding these limits may result in throttling, suspension, or termination of your API access.

8. Fees and Payment

Certain API features and higher usage tiers require payment. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to pay all applicable fees. Fees are non-refundable except as required by law.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your API access at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, you must immediately cease using the API and delete any cached data.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DoorProfit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DoorProfit and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the API or violation of these Terms.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website. Your continued use of the API after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
